Standing Strong After Cyclone Yaas

On 5th June 2021, Sahajiya carried out its twelfth disaster relief initiative in Mamudpur village, Hingalgunge, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, in response to the devastation caused by Cyclone Yaas. The cyclone had once again left coastal communities vulnerable—damaging homes, contaminating water sources, and disrupting access to food and basic necessities.

Understanding the urgency of the situation, the Sahajiya team reached the affected area with a mission to provide immediate relief and restore a sense of stability. A total of 200 beneficiaries were supported through the distribution of essential commodities. These included food supplies, drinking water, hygiene products, and other daily necessities crucial for survival during the aftermath of a natural disaster.

Mamudpur village, like many parts of Hingalgunge, faced severe challenges due to flooding and infrastructural damage. For families already struggling with limited resources, the cyclone intensified their hardships. Sahajiya’s intervention aimed not only to address these immediate needs but also to reassure the community that they were not alone in their struggle.

The relief drive was carried out with care, coordination, and compassion. Volunteers worked on the ground to ensure that every item reached those who needed it the most, maintaining dignity and respect for each individual. The effort reflected Sahajiya’s continued commitment to stand beside vulnerable communities during times of crisis.

Disaster Support XII is another chapter in Sahajiya’s journey of service—where timely action, collective effort, and human empathy come together to make a meaningful impact. As natural disasters continue to affect lives, Sahajiya remains dedicated to responding swiftly and supporting communities in rebuilding their lives with hope and resilience.
